Ashes of Desires

by Janhavi Bhat

What happens when the world is fighting water scarcity and the only solution lies in the world that was first built? That is when a boy from the far west meets a girl who lived thousand years on the planet and an eagle who has four eyes?

You will receive only in your dream. Desire once, and you will lose the dream.

The saga unfolds and takes them to a time when things had just begun.

I talk of the time when the stars had just bloomed, like flowers they were spreading their essence in the universe’s womb. Gigantic they were, larger than our sun. Everything was in ecstatic motion, it seemed slow but that was its rhythm.

When millions of years passed like these, everyone got bored. That’s when two stars tried to find out a way. One was Lamor and one was Rezin. Together they stayed and remained by each other’s side.

“You know what? I am bored of you. Can’t I just hang out with someone else? In this dark space of nothingness it is sickening to look at your face. I want passion, I want chase, I want to run all over the space, go to every corner, meet everyone”, said Lamor.

“Hmm”, meanwhile Rezin meditated on his state.

“Weren’t we created to enjoy this stillness, the silence and solitude, doing our work and when time’s up we go back to where we belong?”, Rezin said.

“A thousand years from now, when the cups will be filled and the wells will be dry, when the insides will be empty and the shackles will collapse, when desire shall become revenge and revenge will satisfy. Then you will know, that is time.”

Aatank ke rang- Kale ya hare

by Pushkar Vihari

Safarnaama - Vol 1

by Ankaj Giri

When the world around raced for being human and walking that extra mile to achieve their goals The Traveller sighed; and turned himself into a storyteller. The apathetic world kept chasing acquisitive pleasures as the Traveller smiled and looked up to the storyteller inside. The tales inside him shaped, molded and spiraled down the invisible walls that he created to ward off the apparent perfect world. The Traveller watched as the storyteller weaved and nurtured them into beautiful strings of thoughts. Thoughts bearing love, loss, tears, pain and many more in the journey of the Traveller. He took one step after the other in his journey, wrote one after the other poetries and fostered the spirit of storytelling inside. Thus, “Safarnaama” came into life. This first volume contains short form writeups!

Renunciation And Other Short Stories

by Dattaprasad Anil Thite-Bharadwaj

‘Renunciation and other short stories’ is a collection of his 11 short stories that recounts an abrupt end of a childhood friendship owing to the untimely death of one of the friends, a u-turn in the life of an infidel husband for self-cleansing, entry of happiness in an engineer’s life when he befriends three squirrel babies, helplessness of two persons to pacify the agony of a foreigner, two sequences of events when humanity goes beyond religious beliefs, a boy’s impatient wait to enjoy aromas of Saturdays, how a beggar woman feds other needy people and some subtle humour. In these stories, the author keenly observes his as well as the lives of people around him and then uses his imagination to interweave himself in them. This is the reason; some of the stories in this collection have the narrator as the first person singular. To put ourselves into others’ shoes though is a very complex process, yet he tries hard and thus without prejudice understands others’ experiences. People he mentions are the commonest without any so-called social glamour, yet have their own shares of deeply felt experiences.

Indian Summer in Verses

by Multiple Authors

Indian Summer in Verses is a modest attempt of 32 poets who have all captured the nostalgic, most memorable and the bygone times of those summer days when the world was slow, time was magical, people connected from the hearts and life was quite simple. Each poet in this book has captured a dream like summer time, which in these days seems lost somewhere in an expeditious world. You will find in this book the childhood spent in the hills and mountains, children being out of the house the whole day when there was no fear of being scolded, as the aunts and mothers of the houses kept busy with their errands and tittle-tattle, while the gangs of children loitered around eating berries or mangoes from the orchards, or dipping their tiny feet in the nearby ponds. Each poem is a glance into the world of those precious bygone summer days which were waited by the children and both adults with equal enthusiasm; it was those times when people found escape from their routine lives and a train journey was the most memorable ride that people took to meet the loved ones in the other end, who all waited with equal anxiety to unite with their distant family members and spend the rest of the summer days in frolic.
